Y’all, if there’s one thing that I’ve ordered online the past month that is the most important package delivered, it’s this seat belt cover from Etsy. Forget Amazon, forget Target, forget j.crew… it’s this that will be worn the most! A fellow medically-needy mom in one of the Facebook groups I’m in shared this after purchasing it, and I immediately went and purchased one too (psssst…. the Etsy seller didn’t pay me for this post and doesn’t know I’m sharing it, so this review is a genuine one).
Having a medically-needy child, I feel sound like a broken record with every new physician, specialist, and every new doctor’s office visit. I swear it takes me fifteen minutes just to talk about all of Eloise’s medical history, reasons for her monitors and medical equipment and explaining her conditions; I wish I could just give out a Cliffs Notes version of her medical history!
Enter the medical alert seat belt straps by Sew Good by Dolores! Dolores has several options of medical seat belt straps (diabetic, autism, non-verbal, heart conditions, ICE, etc.) that can be customized with specific conditions. With the medical alert seat belt strap comes a document that prompts medical history, physician information, and consent to treat.
After filling out the document, there is a double pocket on the inside of the seat belt strap cover that holds the paperwork.
So, why would Eloise need this seat belt cover? If we get in a car accident, I might not be able to tell EMS about her conditions, that she suffers from dangerous episodes of bradycardia and has central apnea, the monitors she needs, when she’s on oxygen, and the medications that she takes. The first thing that EMS will do (if the accident is bad enough and you can’t do it yourself) is to unbuckle you from your seat; this is the first thing they’ll see, attached to the seat belt (or for Eloise, attached to the handle of the car seat).
This seat belt strap cover is perfect for, well… everyone. I’ve already purchased one for Walter’s car seat as well (Dolores makes a smaller version too!) and will be adding one to Peter’s car as well. Making sure that my daughter’s medical history is known in case of an accident is priceless, and worth every penny of the $16.50 that it cost.
Have I convinced you that you need one yet? You can order yours here!
