Happy Friday friends! Well, the Weiss family is in a post-vacation slump after this week’s amazing getaway at our favorite family-friendly Loews Miami Beach Hotel, but today I’m so excited to share our visit with you!
From this past Sunday until Tuesday, we made Loews Miami Beach our home, and we loved every second of it! In fact, had we won the Mega Millions lottery this week, we probably would’ve asked for residency here, we love it that much. Just steps from Ocean Drive and Lincoln Road, this art deco gem recently had a $50 million redesign and is now a well-known convention spot in Miami Beach; there was actually a movie theater convention going on while we were there and got to see movie posters for movies that haven’t been released yet- so cool! This trip we chose an oceanview balcony room, and out of the 760 rooms available, I’m certain that this one was one of the best! Loews boasts that they’re pet friendly, and Walter met several furry friends staying at the hotel, and he thought it was the coolest thing for “puppies to play and stay too!”. While we didn’t bring our Weimaraner, we did bring our smiles and were ready to make memories!
Day 1: check-in, a dip in the pool, and Lure eats
Sunday morning we left Orlando and drove the four hours to Miami with our car packed to the gills- yep, I need to be in overpacker’s anonymous! Both kiddos slept in the car and before we knew it, we were in the stunning lobby of Loews. Isn’t the lobby absolutely stunning? The art installation behind the front desk is just one part of the recent $50 million renovation that the property underwent. I love that it has a reef-like appearance to represent the beachside property.
We quickly made it upstairs to our home for the next two nights, and Walter immediately did his “bounce” test. Once again, the Loews beds have Walter’s bouncy seal of approval!
This trip we asked for an oceanview balcony room, and I’m so glad we did- our view from the 12th floor was spectacular, and we could wave at the many cruise ships leaving port (it’s only 20 minutes away!) and could see downtown Miami as well. We also had a bird’s eye view of the pool and property amenities below, and we threw on our swimsuits to hit the pool.
The short walk from the hotel lobby to the pool is nothing short of spectacular, and is probably one of my favorite spots on property; it screams “paradise”, and that’s exactly what this place is! The palm-lined walk is flanked with two water installations that flow down to the pool area, and is on Walter’s short list of favorites at the hotel. He even thought the fountains were relaxing as he did his meditation pose (on his own, I promise!).
We made it to the pool and grabbed a few chairs by the shallow end. Loews boasts a beautiful pool with a gradual-entry side that’s perfect for little ones, including Eloise’s size! Both kiddos played in the shallow area and played in the fun water fountains at the pool’s entry with newly-made friends for nearly two hours before it was time to get cleaned up for dinner. We were having dinner at Lure Fishbar on property, and I couldn’t wait!
Sunday evening we ate at the award-winning Lure Fishbar on property at Loews, and I was so excited for our reservation! This might’ve been my fifth stay at Loews Miami, but this was my first time eating at Lure and I couldn’t wait- I had heard so many wonderful things about Lure’s large sushi menu, and of their large variety of shellfish and lobster. The room was dark and wood-filled like an old country club room, and was decorated with black and white images of ships and a large model of the Titanic. While Lure is an upscale restaurant (reservations recommended), they were incredibly welcoming of both Walter and Eloise and were thrilled to have them there. The children’s menu was expansive and included homemade fish sticks, and the cheddar rolls brought out to us were devoured by our kiddos within a few minutes. There’s a reason why I had a photo of only two of the rolls, Walter and Eloise ate four before I could even take a photo of them! Peter and I ordered a cucumber and avocado roll for all of us to share as an appetizer, and then ordered a Maine lobster roll for us to split. It was actually my first-ever lobster roll, and I loved it. Dessert was a delicious crème brûlée, and by the end of our meal I felt like I needed to be wheeled upstairs to our room!
We made it back upstairs to find a crib for Eloise had been delivered, complete with infant toiletries! This added touch is one of the many reasons why I love Loews Miami Beach and it’s because they care for every family member, the littlest ones included!
We also found a wonderful treat of milk and cookies and a beautiful charcuterie plate that had been delivered to us by the hotel. It was the sweetest surprise (literally!) and Walter was thrilled to have a second dessert right in our room. Loews, you spoil us! That night we went to bed completely stuffed and happy from our day, and we were looking forward to our day at the beach in the morning.
Day 2: Preston’s breakfast and a beach day
Monday morning we woke up early and watched the sunrise on the balcony. Well, Walter actually watched it… in his underwear, what else?! I snapped this photo before he knew I was behind him, and gosh I love it. He kept saying throughout the trip, “Mommy, I love the ocean breeze in my hair! I love this place so much!” Me too, kiddo. Walter was about to love Loews even more with the breakfast he was about to have!
Everyone got dressed and we all made it down to Preston’s restaurant, and I was really excited to see this breakfast I’ve heard so much about. While the adult breakfast had great reviews, it was the kids breakfast that had the rave reviews from other moms. And boy, it sure got rave reviews from Walter! We sat outside on the terrace overlooking the pool, and on the way outside we walked past the large breakfast buffet, and the reknown children’s buffet. I knew after walking over twenty feet of delicous breakfast offerings, from local breads (by Zak the Baker) and pastries to sliced breakfast meats and made-to-order omelettes that this is what I was going to have, hands down. And once we walked past the children’s breakfast buffet with dinosaur cupcakes, Froot Loops and homemade donut holes, Walter knew that was exactly what he was going to eat too!
Walter was given a darling activity page to color at breakfast, which looked just like one of the many colorful lifeguard shacks along the beach. As it turned out, it was an exact image of the Loews SOBE Kids Club lifeguard tower in their Kids Club (a super cool kids-only spot on property!) that little ones could play on!
As predicted, Walter’s breakfast was comprised of rocket fuel, I mean sweet treats, but why not go all out while on vacation?! And to sweeten the deal (pun intended here), the children’s breakfast buffet is FREE. Bring on all the cupcakes and homemade donut holes, kiddo!
I ordered a mimosa for breakfast and had a greek yogurt parfait with local honey to start, and we continued to enjoy breakfast for over an hour. Again, you could’ve wheeled us out of Preston’s after breakfast and straight onto the beach!
We made it to the beach immediately after breakfast to enjoy the day before the rain was supposed to arrive. Luckily, it didn’t show up, but gosh it was windy on the beach! We rented a cabana through Boucher Brothers and Loews and we were right on the beach. Walter and Peter were so excited about the bright blue water that they dumped their clothes and raced to the ocean, while Eloise and I relaxed in our fabulous beach bed. In fact, it was so fabulous that Eloise took an hour an a half beach nap on it!
During nap time, I took advantage of the beachside food and beverage service and ordered a large berry vodka lemonade, and Peter and I were both surprised that our drink came out in a bucket-o-booze… we laughed so hard over this giant bucket! Our drink was just as delicious as it was funny.
We continued to play on the beach through the afternoon, and also made sand castles in the darling kids’ area offered by Loews. This spot had buckets, pails, molds, shovels, and everything you could think of for little ones to make the perfect sand castle. I love that they included beach chairs and umbrellas for parents and caregivers to sit and enjoy this little sand spot while their kiddos play! Walter was completely in his element and it was nearly impossible to snap a photo of him, but that up-close one is definitely a framer.
By 3:30pm the clouds were getting darker and the wind was really picking up so we made our way back to the hotel. Walter kept pointing out our balcony “riiiiiiight heeeeeeere” as we walked on in from the beach. If you squint your eyes closely, you can see our balcony (third closest to the beach) on the 12th floor of this beautiful art deco gem.
We got cleaned upstairs and came back downstairs for some much-wanted ice cream at Miami Joe’s in the hotel lobby, and gosh this ice cream was goooood. I had heard great things about this ice cream, supplied by a local ice cream shop called Azucar, and that the flavor “Café con Leche” (Cuban coffee and Oreo) was the flavor to get. We were treated to this afternoon pick-me-up during a quick meeting (thank you again, Lyssa!) and the sprinkles (and kiddo meltdowns) were in abudance. Our ice cream was finished just before a quick nap time, and once again we went back upstairs for a quick nap before happy hour / dinner at Bar Collins.
Naps only lasted half an hour before they woke up, and we made our way downstairs again for some dinner al fresco at Bar Collins. We sat on outdoor couches and enjoyed happy hour with our glass of wine and a Flamingo Mojito, made with watermelon and ginger (it was delicious!), and this incredible guacamole with pita and tortilla chips. Walter ate dinner al fresco as well, and I’m happy to inform you that the pepperoni pizza was delicious, according to Walter; I couldn’t even take a photo of his plate before he snagged two pepperoni slices! That kid sure loves his food, and he definitely loved the Loews brick-oven pizza. We also ordered an incredible skirt steak appetizer from the happy hour menu, and it was the perfect relaxed dinner for us as we watched Monday Night Football outside. It was just what we needed!
We made our way upstairs for the night, carrying little ones that fell asleep on the outdoor sofas downstairs. Like I said, it was the perfect relaxing evening and it was just what the Weiss fam needed.
Day 3: poolside and check-out
Tuesday morning we got dressed and hit the pool and the beach, but not for swimming, for photos! I wanted to get a few photos of our family before the Loews property and the beach got too crowded, so we were out the door by 8am. I quickly snapped a photo of Walter by the palm-lined walkway (I told you it’s my favorite!). We took some photos by the pool and then ventured to the spot I really wanted to see: one of the colorful lifeguard shacks along the beach! Walter had the best time climbing on the one that was his “faaaaavorite”.
After cleaning off our sandy toes from taking photos by the beach, we grabbed our swimsuits one last time for a morning by the pool. Walter and Eloise both made friends at the pool (again!) and had the best time splashing in the water with their new buddies. There’s nothing sweeter than seeing your little ones make friends with others! It was great talking to other parents as well and meeting other parents who are in the same “season” as us.
Before we knew it, it was 12:30 and it was time to pack up and head home, and we were so sad to leave! We made so many memories here this trip, and we are already planning our sixth visit because we love it here so much. Loews Miami Beach, we’ll see you again very soon!

I could list the reasons why we love Loews Miami Beach, but I feel like our photos and memories explain them all. It’s the warm hospitality, the open-arms welcome to our little ones in every inch of the property, the patience we have with our not-so-quiet kiddos, and the carefully curated and thought-of additions that make our stay even better than we could’ve imagined.
I used to think Miami Beach was just a party scene, but Loews Miami Beach has shattered that assumption. This family-friendly and pet-friendly hotel is waiting for you, so what are you waiting for?!
